PROJECT INFO

Sharp is excited to contribute to the transformation of the historic Merchant's Ice Building, a cornerstone of San Antonio’s Eastside. This adaptive reuse project, designed by Douglas Architects and built by Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, involves the revitalization of a 63,000 square foot facility to include retail spaces, offices, and roof terraces. Our role in this project is critical, involving the installation of Kawneer’s glass systems, including the 1600 UT (7 1/2"), 1600 System 5 (6") Type A & B, and TriFab 451T FS. The glass, fabricated by Oldcastle, features various specifications such as 1/4" Clear SB70 and 5/16" Clear with .030 PVB. From May 2023 to February 2024, we are dedicated to ensuring the project meets the strict requirements for historic tax credits while integrating modern amenities. This project exemplifies our ability to blend historical preservation with contemporary design, creating a premier hub for life sciences, biotech, and emerging technologies.
